VIVIENNE WESTWOOD _ FLAGSHIP STORE, SHOWROOM ET COMMERCE A PARIS
FLAGSHIP STORE aND SHOWROOM FOR A LUXURY BRAND IN PARIS

First Parisian flagship store of the Vivienne Westwood brand, this 1420 m² complex includes two on-street shops, a shop on the basement level, a showroom on three levels as well as a set of offices. Located in the historic part of Paris near the Louvre, the complex consists of a building dating from the 19th century as well as a building at the back of the plot built in 1928. The latter was the product of an order passed by the A. Leduc editions to the architect Philippe Jolivald. The industrial stylistic influence of this construction is remarkable on the facade, in particular by its brick veneer. The building includes certain architectural specificities such as a translucent concrete skylight in the second courtyard as well as a monolithic reinforced concrete structure intended for the storage of the archives of the A. Leduc editions. This one occupies the basements up to R+1 of the most recent building and is inserted under the wing of the 19th century building. Added to the constructive interest, a complex game of circulations and half-levels creates a remarkable identity to the building.
Our first problem is the treatment of the existing load-bearing structure. By its density, it cannot allow the construction of the basement store and the showroom on the ground floor. After negotiations with the city of Paris and the client, we were able to keep this structure on two levels under the left wing of the 19th century building.
A real development challenge for the client, the conservation of this remarkable structure enriches the specific character of the building.
The interior fittings will be carried out by an independent company designated by the client. The Vivienne Westwood brand has its own visual identity for all of its shops around the world, so we do not intervene in the development of interior spaces.
